Harrogate South

Girlguiding Harrogate South is the largest of the three Divisions in the Harrogate area.

It covers the centre of the Harrogate, Harlow Hill, Christchurch, Starbeck and the ‘Saints’ area to Rossett, Pannal, Burn Bridge and the outlying villages of Spofforth, Follifoot, Kirkby Overblow, Huby and North Rigton.

The Division has three Districts: Rossett, Spa and Victoria. Within each District there are units for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. There are also opportunities for Young Leaders and Unit Helpers to assist within units and their support is invaluable. We are always looking for adults to train as new Leaders – if you are interested, why not contact us?

As a Division and within Districts we organise many special events where we have loads of fun, do various challenges and activities to gain lots of badges and make new friends.

Rainbows have made friends whilst enjoying outdoor activity days, train trips and creative fun including circus skills..

Brownies have visited a llama farm and have great fun rock climbing, campfire cooking and bush craft.

Guides love anything to do with food and hold cooking competitions, adventurous sponsorship to raise money for charity as well as gaining their section awards: Bronze, Silver & Gold. They enjoy camping and adventure weekends as well as fun activities such as “it’s a Knock Out’.

Rangers enjoy the independence of putting together their own programme of events. They also have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Rangers from our Division have taken part in international trips to Copenhagen & Nepal.

Our Division is co-ordinated by a group of very enthusiastic volunteers who are dedicated to ensuring that every girl learns and grows, has fun and makes new friends whilst reaching their full potential. We would love you to be part of our family.
