Brownies

Brownies are one of the largest and most popular sections within Girlguiding UK and offer fun and friendship to girls aged 7-10 years.

Brownies work in small groups, called Sixes and have their own Sixer and Second.
The Six gives each Brownie her own ready-made circle of friends to work with and share experiences.

Brownies will take part in unit activities, as well as working with their Sixes and individually on Interest badges of their choice.

These may include topics such as Agility, Artist, Cook and First Aid, but also some more unusual choices such as Science Investigator, World Traveller and Crime Prevention.

We want to know what Brownies think. Brownies get to have their say about what they like, dislike and wish to do at pow-wows which help them to make decisions and share their ideas and views.

Brownies learn through fun, games, activities, making things and sharing ideas about their role as individuals, the wider community and the bigger world.

Every Brownie unit is different, but in each one you will find a group of like minded girls and Leaders who enjoy having fun. Find out more about Brownies

Brownies Visit Stray FM

Ashville Brownies recently visited Stray FM radio station in Harrogate.  The girls all had a fabulous time there meeting radio DJs Nick Hancock, Will Smith and Alex Cann.  The girls went live on air on Will Smith’s afternoon show, if you were listening to Stray FM at about 5pm you might have heard them!  They each got to record their own “soundbite” about Brownies.  Nick then showed the girls how to edit the soundbite so that there were not any pauses.  Thanks Stray FM for a great visit!
