Birk Crag Centre Redevelopment
We are now planning for the future and the exciting redevelopment of Birk Crag County HQ, residential, training and activity centre, Harrogate.
Our aim is to create a space to grow Guiding, and to provide for our community of young people and charitable groups through the provision of an accessible, multi-purpose space in a central location.
In September 2016 planning permission was granted for demolition of the much-loved, but not fit for purpose centre, and erection of a replacement centre, landscaping and alterations to the existing access.
Fundraising started in earnest when planning permission was granted and by Autumn 2018 our totaliser stands at around £800,000.
Summer 2018 saw works commence on the drive crossover to protect services and improve safety, sadly followed by demolition of the old centre at the beginning of September 2018. Excitingly, work now continues with the ground works for the new centre, construction of a small store, improved parking, drainage and lots more. The steel frame is now in place and the walls, floor and roof will follow by the Autumn
We are building the centre for today and tomorrow’s generations, securing and taking Girlguiding into the future together with providing community facilities.
