Celebrating our volunteers

It was lovely to see so many volunteers at the County’s Thanks & Recognition event on 14th October. We were especially pleased to welcome Alison Gordon, our Region Chief Commissioner, who awarded several long service brooches. Alison also presented Sue Mackay with the Laurel Award for exceptional service to guiding over the years.

Emily Cramby, from Skipton & Settle Division, was presented with the Joan Wilson cup as she had shown such enthusiasm and energy in everything she does in guiding over the last year.

Hazel Barker was asked to say a few words about Barbara Dixon, who has served guiding for 50 years now. Barbara was a previous County Commissioner and is now a County Vice-President. Alison Gordon spoke of her gratitude to Sue Mackay for all she had done over the years for North Yorkshire West County, and she was delighted to be asked to present Sue with her Laurel Award, this now brings the total to five in our County.

Babs Jones (Ripon Division and NEE trainer) & Elizabeth Weegman (County Archivist) were congratulated for 40 years service. Juliet Duke,(Nidderdale District) Jayne Morrison (Victoria District), Enid Rispin, (County Badge Secretary) and Margo Davidson (Harrogate depot volunteer manager) all received their 30 year long service broaches
