Fantastic Family Fun Day
Around 800 Girlguiding members of all ages together with their families had a great day out at Ripley Castle on Sunday. As part of a Family Fun Day organised by the County, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section all enjoyed showing their parents and brothers what a wonderful time they enjoy in guiding activities.
The sun shone as excited members tried their hands at activities from drumming to football and fingerprinting! The more intrepid youngsters scaled the climbing wall, while others had the thrill of handling birds of prey or snakes. From crafts to circus skills there was something for everyone. Families picnicking on the field were also treated to live entertainment from some very talented young singers and instrumentalists from Guides and Senior Section.
The event was organised by Girlguiding North Yorkshire West County and members had travelled from Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Skipton, Settle and the Dales to join in the fun. County Commissioner Sue Mackay commented, “It is great to see so many of our young members enjoying themselves with their families in fun and challenging activities. Today was a good example of the diversity of opportunity open to everyone in guiding”.
Girlguiding North Yorkshire West is grateful to Sir Thomas and Lady Ingilby for allowing them to hold the event on the Ripley estate.
