The leader’s camp is open to all leaders in North Yorkshire West who are interested in taking their girls away by completing the Going Away With Scheme or are interested in learning about taking girls away, or who wish to increase their own personnel camping /outdoor cooking skills or just fancy a weekend with other leaders.

Leaders can stay indoors or camp, there will be a selection of different camp equipment provided or you can bring your own.

 

When: 26th -28th April 2024– you can come for the whole weekend, one night one day or visit each day.

Where: Hazel House Ripon HG4 1TL

Cost: £25 whole weekend / £10 per day includes 2 sessions and meal / £7.50 for one session and meal (all this cost can be paid out of unit funds)

 

Programme – this is a proposed plan and may be changed depending on group needs and weather conditions:

Friday:

Arrive from 7.30pm - general get together and check plans suit everyone needs.

 

Saturday:

Session looking at forms and risk assessments/pitching tents and looking after camp equipment and how to involve the girls.

Lunch,  after which the sessions are reversed.

Evening meal cooked in small groups on open fires.

Evening bingo

 

Sunday:

Camp themes – what pudding can we cook at camp? Is “gadget wood” dead or is it dying art? Looking at how to enthuse the girls.
